A recent 11-month study of reproduction and growth in Neocaridina davidi (Red Cherry) found that diets with the same fat and protein content had more positive effects on the freshwater shrimp the more Spirulina was included. The more Spirulina, the better and faster the shrimp grew , the earlier the females laid eggs and the shorter the breaks in reproduction. Also, the hatch rate of the eggs was best on the diet with the highest Spirulina content, and a much higher number of juveniles grew up – indicating a significantly better egg quality in the females.

The Spirulina Tabs are not only a delicious source of protein for shrimp, they are also very beneficial for ornamental fish that eat growth, such as catfish, but also crustaceans, crabs and, above all, aquarium snails. Snails need animal and vegetable protein in order to form their protective layer on the shell, which consists of protein, in a stable and robust manner. Healthy, colourful, non-corroded shells in aquarium snails are the result of a good supply of protein!
